​​PolySDL—the Structural Design Lab at Florida Polytechnic University—was created by Dr. Guven Kiymaz to support active, project-based learning in Civil Engineering. Drawing on more than a decade of experience developing structural learning activities with university students, he is building PolySDL as a place where students design, model, fabricate, test, and develop a deeper understanding of structural behavior.

Dr. Kiymaz is a structural engineering faculty member at Florida Poly. His teaching philosophy connects engineering theory with structural behavior through physical models, computational analysis, fabrication, and experimental testing. PolySDL builds upon activities he developed at previous universities while creating a distinctive learning environment for Florida Poly students.
